This RPG is -so- metal.

The world has changed dramatically. The game takes place entirely on the Silver Star, the Blue Star is not even a memory and hardly a shadow in the sky. Its history entirely unknown by even the highest scholars. While the SIlver Star does remain, its curse was of water.

The World At Large

This is the world you live in, known as Lunar. The concept, however, that it is the moon of anything is lost. There is also no concept of any other planets, any great arc to a new world, no myth of a brilliant goddess with hair like the sea and sky who blessed the world with beauty and magic. All that is known is that, in most every religon on the planet, the story begins with a flood.

It is not taken for granted that humans rule over all else, in fact, human life has been a struggle for as long as anyone can remember. Both the land and sea are almost entirely fruitless, many of its animals inedible, and those small pockets of life that remain are a constant hazzard to maintain. To make matters worse, the land is plagued with titanic beasts who will attack humans on sight and stomp out any small civilizations they manage to create. This had caused the human world to be in a dark age that lasted thousands of years.

These monsters, called simply "Beasts" or "Giants", are unlike the normal monsters that roam the land in that they are much larger. While they vary greatly, the average Beast stands 15-20, is up to 40 feet long and weighs 5-7 tons. Though much larger, they are thought to outnumber humansat least 3 to 1. They roam the entire land, and though not as frequent in "safer" areas will still appear in large groups. They are concentrated in certain areas deemed "Danger" areas.

The tyranny of these Giants was only challenged fairly recently in this wing of the world's history, some 2000 years ago by the founding of a lasting city around a tower that miraculously staved the creatures off. This settlement became known as Drakken. With this great advantage, Drakken began expanding and with the expansion devised a battle plans for a great war, humanity's chance.

There are currently 7 settlments in the game. They are not all as grand as Drakken, and even Drakken is perhaps a bit smaller than you may assume the big settlment in a mecha game would be. These little pockets of life, relatively safe, are enforced by Mecha that Drakken has developed to both destroy and defend against their towering agressors. These settlements are: Drakken, Laritta, Calista, Vane Island (Ina + Vane School), Madoria, Nitou (pronounced ni as in Nicole and tou much like tao), and lastly Oran.

Civilization at a Glance

Drakken - Drakken is, of course, a very important place that has allowed humanity to have a fighting chance against the beasts that roam the planet. Their giant size and ability to do what they do revolves around a sort of safety. This safety comes from a mysterious tower, deemed "Drakken Tower", that is the core of the city.

The innermost shell, closest to the core, is the Primaryl Shell, where elected heads from the various civilian sectors represent, or other very important people for the society. Symbolically, they are the least likely to die as they are nearest to the tower, therefore they can keep society running.

The second closest shell is the Military Shell, split into 4 sections. There is the school and their training grounds (M4), there is the headquarters for those in their 5th and 6th year (Also M4), there is basic military command (M1) and there is also the headquarters for the upper ranks. In each section there are places for those who work there to live.

The 3rd shell is civilian, or Social Shell. This shell also is connected to 4 circular miniature models of Drakken's political structure that each sit at the 4 poles of the city, quartering the civilian shell. These are the Secondary Shells. It is then divided in half, and then quartered again, to form the various civilian sectors. Each quarter in each quarter, separated by the mini-models (Tertiary Shells), has its own minor government that functions relatively independently of the Drakken state. The 4 models also help in maintaining the cities, and are prepared to take on further responsibilities as needed in case of catastrophe.

The 4th shell, Farming Shell, is also protected by the miniature social biosphere copies and touches them as the 3rd shell does. This shell is primarily more rural areas, people who work hard at farming (it is significantly harder and more profitable than our world) and other jobs designed to help the farmers. It too is quartered, but is a bit more of a free country than the 3rd shell.

The outermost shell is a giant wall that protects the town, though thanks to the tower it has never had to try very hard.

Laritta - Laritta is a social hub, the second most important settlement in the game. Though north of Drakken and therefore slightly farther away from Vane than Drakken is, it is considered a sort of neutral area where students applying for both schools take their tests and perhaps do further training if need be. Laritta has a fine school system overall, another reason the preparatory school might have been put there, making it another rarity. It is surrounded by water on 3 sides, and has been blessed with a fairly safe ocean, so Laritta has had to worry about in the way of monster attacks has been on the one side.

Calista - The Association of Nomads. Calista, though there's usually a settlement focused on that labled dot, is a land of contant change. Calista has survived by being able to get up and move when there is a problem, or find a small spot that might be far away from others that is strangely safe. They are masters at being able to predict when the place they are living will find danger, and follow the coastline until they see signs that they will be safer. While Drakken has had a lot of trouble protecting such a mobile "city", they have both worked together to find a way to make it easier on each other, and it is one of the better places to live if you can deal with the lifestyle. Most people from Calista, unlike many other protected settlements, have seen monsters and many know how to fight them, if only little ones. Calista stretches along the southern coastline and is focused mostly in the eastmost part of it.

Vane Island - The tiny fishing village of Ina is fairly well protected due to being nearby Vane, but it is not as large of a social commodity as either of the settlements listed and generally runs the same as you'd expect a tiny fishing village to be run. Other than that and the school, there are no other settlements on Vane Island.

Madoria - East of Vane, south of Calista, Madoria is not as great as a place as you might suspect, but still better off than some. It is incredibly mountainous and though a shocking lot of the land there is relatively safe, it is still difficult to farm there and the animals there are not so good to eat. They have few exports, but they do offer a place that you will most likely not die at, and so many smart people from other parts of the world have taken up residence there with the mountain weirdoes. The biggest problem with Madoria are the oceans. In the gulf between its continent and middle-calista, there is something strange with the ocean that has been known to pull in ships and even mecha. The gulf between it and the continent to the east of it there have also been reported to be strange happenings and unwholesome beasts. No one is sure if the details given on these places are superstition or fact, as the people of Madoria have more superstitions than just about anyone else.

Nitou - A small, lost island off the coast of the southern, uninhabitable drakken continent. It does not get many visitors. It's arid for an island and just about as dry as the land it's directly west of, which is cracked desert land.

Oran - A tiny island to the west of Drakken with one long island between it and the continent. Most recently liberated by Drakken, Oran is first shielded by its own very dangerous isle, and then on the side of Drakken nearest to it is one of the most dangerous part of Drakken. Because of this, it is very separated from the rest of the world and the most unlike it. The landscape is very strange, and many plants grow there that grow nowhere else. Although every isle or continent nearby it is incredibly unsafe, Oran was surprisingly easy to free and is relatively easy to protect, so they even have little contact with solders of Drakken. A mysterious place.

Beastlands

Though most all lands uninhabited and unprotected are territory of the Beasts, some lands are teaming with them; these lands are called Beastlands. These are designated as Danger areas and are to be avoided by pilots unless instructed otherwise. They usually have weird landscapes that look alien, the same blue sky looks red in these lands, and plants are the wrong color and mutated shapes.

Whitelands: On the continent of Laritta. An unheard of tragedy occured roughly 20 years ago when the landlocked half of Laritta was destroyed. While one of the most significant settlements, Laritta also borders on these dangerous lands populated by Beasts with wind and ice magic. To travel too far out is instant death. They're known for, around 2000 years ago, a new monster being documented called Screecries. As the name implies, the mountains are white. They're surrounded by a constant thick mist of white-blue and billowing snow in all weather. If the Skreecries don't bite off your head, you'll freeze to death.

Black Mountains: Drakken's own version of the Whitelands, only charcoal black. Unlike other beastlands that have forests or lakes, there's nothing but black and lifelessness, like a goth's dream.

Southern Drakken: It’s one of the current projects for the military. It’s absolutely ferocious, but since it’s right near Drakken and is totally huge, there’s been project after project to at least figure out what’s there, even if they can’t do much with it. They’ve found it’s really really hot there! Also, weird lava and stuff. Lots of ashen wastelands and black deserts

Devil Claw: Mostly known only by shape. It’s hardly even been able to be landed on. Pilots are encouraged to not even go near it—they’d be better off flying over the black bay.

Black Bay: And speaking of which, not a nice place! Home to Zeraths and other fishy monsters, strange one-eyed black birds and plates full of hot death. It guards the bay to Oran, and is named after a safe route was attempted. Many pilots and hoverland witches have lost their lives in Black Bay. The landscape has a maze of waterfalls going in unrealistic directions, leading to nowhere irrationally, and huge, strange folliage, mostly purple or bluish grey.

That continent due east of Laritta: Unamed continent, appears to harbor no human civilizations and is relatively unsafe. It has been breifly looked over, and after some pilot deaths there has been left alone to work on more fruitful projects. This will happen a lot—any time I say unnamed, you can assume they have explored it breifly to find no people or special resources worth fighting for and left it.

Long island Oran is off of: Unamed and particularly nasty. Sometimes called Black Island because of its bay. This is where all of the crooked bird/bats come from, and any pilot that manages to survive black bay is greeted by a black cloud of the creatures.

Feather Island: Listed as a hazard area by the government, but for some reason details on it have been either non-existant or closely guarded. This is strange, as its such a small place and larger continents have been more overlooked. Why does this place get a name?

The Southeastern Beastland: The government wants this place bad, but it's far away, and in order to get there you have to go through Madoria's coastlines, which are practically beastlands as well, even though they're under water. While the triangle's to the north, on the southeastern coast you have the Golden Mists, which cause people to have illusions and go in the wrong direction. The continent is filled with man-eating forests, black deserts, ashen wastelands, and memory-erasing mists. The little that's been gotten out of the place, though, are many beautiful relics. There's more, and Drakken knows it.

Southwestern Beastland: While most beastlands are barren, terrible places worth nothing but getting rid of beasts or finding relecs, this beastland is filled with the most powerful of gems in their caves, able to power mecha better than any others. The Beastgem, or Black Rocks, are found in mines from the lost cultures of prehistory, as are other fantastic metals. This is another hazardous beastland that has many things Drakken wants baddly.
